Graduation traditions. Nos diplômes, etc.

After highschool, we move on to college. Graduation is a ceremony for the seniors in highschool when we all wear caps and gowns and receive our diplomas. After that, there is a party to congratulate the senior on completing highschool. There is cake, and friends, and money from different family members to put towards college. - jacques4 jacques4

After we graduate from high school, we go to college. But the terrible news about college is that we have to pay for it and it can get pretty expensive. A lot of people receive scholarships, which help pay for college. Graduation from high school is really important in the US; we have a big ceremony for the graduates and then most people have parties to celebrate afterwards. - CarolineL1 CarolineL1

Since college in the United States is payed for almost completely by the students attending school, scholarships are really important. Scholarships are basically money that a student can apply for that has requirements like test scores, community service, and special skills in subjects like science and math. Otherwise, college can cost as much as $50,000 a year! I'm going to Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin thanks to a scholarship!- celinel1 celinel1

In America we go to school for about twelve years and then we have a Graduation Ceremony. This takes place at the end of our high school carreer and the staff of the school get all the 12th graders together and we have to wear gaps and gowns and walk up on a stage where a member of the staff will give each one of us a diploma. Family and friends are invited to come and watch and some students will give speeches. Afterwards a lot of people have parties with cake, friends, and family to celebrate getting through school. Next year we will go off to college and here in America it costs a bit of money to go to school. For me I will be going to Front Range community college in Fort Collins. - genevieved1 genevieved1

After high school, and the excessive graduation ceremonies and parties, we have the option of going to college. College in the United States is very expensive, and paid for by the students, except for the scholarships that we may receive. It is especially expensive if you go to a college that is in a different state than your home state. Next year, I'm going to the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado.- Karine1 Karine1

In America, after the 12 years of public school with all of your friends, everyone splits up and goes to the college of their choice. Some colleges are hard to get into. The college I will attend is the hardest to get into in the state, the Colorado School of Mines. I have received three scholarships to help me pay for this school. Which is great because the school is very expensive. In college, people tend to live in dorms, which are big buildings with little tiny appartments for the students to live in. - Sophie14 Sophie14
